An acausal principle.
Two events can share a meaning without one pushing the other. An inner state and an outer fact arrive together, and a count of causes does not say why they feel like one sentence.
In 1952 Carl Jung and Wolfgang Pauli published one volume, Naturerklärung und Psyche. Jung’s essay is titled Synchronicity: An Acausal Connecting Principle. The English book, The Interpretation of Nature and the Psyche, followed in 1955.
He did not publish this instead of physics. He published it next to a physicist. The principle names a correspondence. It does not prove one, and it does not grant a wish.
